Starkey Laboratories believes interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary to achieve significant and meaningful breakthroughs in hearing instrument technology. Because of this philosophy, SHRC staff includes researchers from a variety of fields. Interaction among engineers, psychologists, physiologists and clinicians ensures that the basic science conducted results in beneficial future hearing instrument applications. Current personnel include researchers specializing in audiology, neurophysiology, cochlear implants, speech intelligibility, signal processing and psychoacoustics. Brent Edwards, Ph.D. serves as Executive Director of the SHRC. Dr. Edwards has headed several notable research programs in the hearing instrument field.
